LATEST WEB SITE ADDITIONS:

The September 2008 edition of the "Bass River Gazette" is now available (August 29th) on line and in the New Gretna Post Office and has been mailed out to all our subscrbers. We hope you all enjoy it!

CURRENT PROJECTS

We are currently working on the following projects:

(1) Obituraries Project: We are scanning and entering Bass River, Tuckerton, and Little Egg Harbor related obituries in a data base for easy retrieval . We now (Sept. 1st) have over 4500 obituries scanned and cataloged on a database and are still scanning and entering data. Check with us if you are looking for an area obituary.

(2) Isaac Cramer Account Book: Isaac Cramer and his son, Charles Cramer, operated the mill at Ives Branch in the Bass River area of Little Egg Harbor (near the present site of the French Cemetery on Hammonton Road) which was previously owned by John Leek and Francis French. An account book was kept from 1818 through the late 1830's containing many names of local residents. We obtained a microfilmed copy from the N.J. State Archieves and have finished scanning the pages into our computer. We are now developing an index. The file will be too large to post on the net, but a printed version will be available at the Bass River Community Library. Stay tuned!
